The Good, the Bad and the Chilly

Greetings backers of The Art of Privateer Press,

Here's an update on how fulfillment is proceeding:

Last week, the weather was merciful and much was accomplished. The shipments to our fulfillment partners in Canada and Australia both went out, and the European/UK shipment is ready and awaiting pickup today, provided we can get a truck to our warehouse. The books have been prepacked in their shipping cartons so all our fulfillment partners need to do is place shipping labels on them, meaning once they arrive to our partners, they should receive a very quick turn around out the door to get to you. Unfortunately, due to the timing of our receiving the books falling too close to Chinese New Year, rewards shipping to Asia will not arrive to VFI until after February 3rd. But again, once they receive them, it should take little time for the books to be sent on the final leg of their journey.

Domestic U.S. orders are all packed and only need to be labeled and picked up. Here's the bad news: today, the weather was not as kind and snow and icy road conditions prevented our shipping department from making it into the warehouse to complete the labeling and shipping process. Reports that we might catch a break in the snow tomorrow seem to be changing as fast as we keep checking the weather. But right now, the forecast says we'll get our rain back by Thursday, and if that happens, it should clear the roads, allowing our team to make it in. So most likely, domestic U.S. orders will ship by Thursday, if not sooner. Unless the weather changes again...

In the meantime, we expect to have the digital books for the Infernals Sketchbook, the Monsterpocalypse Concept Art, and of course, The Art of Privateer Press, available for download in the next 36 hours or less, and hopefully these will keep you warm and fuzzy until the physical books arrive. Stand by for more instructions on how to retrieve your digital books, soon!

Thank you,

Privateer Press

BOOKS HAVE ARRIVED AT PRIVATEER!
over 4 years ago – Wed, Jan 08, 2020 at 01:08:25 AM

Hello backers of The Art of Privateer Press!

It's real! The freshly printed books arrived in our warehouse yesterday. Here are a couple of pictures, that unfortunately don't do this lovely tome justice:

The cover has a matte finish with a spot varnish band that wraps around the front and back.

We went with a heavier paper than was originally spec'd out and it feels great. And the printing is superb!

It's packed cover-to-cover with artwork and really turned out wonderfully. If you're a fan of art books (which you likely are as a backer of this project) you won't be disappointed once you're holding it in your hands.

How much longer is that going to take? Here's the roadmap to fulfillment:

Our next step is to dispatch the books to our international fulfillment partners. Overseas freight typcially takes about four weeks and we'll make an announcement as each shipment arrives at is fulfillment destination. Aetherworks will be handling Australia and New Zealand, VFI will fulfill Asia, Lion Rampant will fulfill Canada, and Cerberus will fulfill the UK and Europe. If you ordered internationally and are not in one of those regions, your rewards will be sent directly from Privateer.

Once the international orders have gone to our distribution partners, we will begin domestic U.S. shipping and 'rest of world'. Domestic orders will ship via USPS Media Mail, and should deliver within 4-6 days of being posted. Our goal is to have everything shipped early next week. However...

We've got a big snow storm moving in. With any luck, the snowfall on Thursday won't be enough to affect operations. But starting Monday, the forecast is predicting a solid seven days of snow. Unofrtunately, unlike other parts of the country that routinely deal with heavy snow, our area typically shuts down if there is snow on the roads. We've got fingers crossed that it won't be enough to impede our ability to get to the warehouse, but we want to let you know that there is a high likelihood for delay due to a very ill-timed storm.

In any event, we will update you here once the books start shipping or if we experience any sort of delay so that you will know what to expect.

Meanwhile, we're putting the final touches on the Monsterpocalypse Concept Art digital art book as well as the Infernals Concept Art digital art book, and those will be ready for download soon!

Once again, we want to thank you for bringing this proejct to life. We don't want you to have to wait any longer and couldn't be more excited to deliver what you have helped to create. Weather willing, it won't be much longer...

Many thanks,

Privateer Press

PRINTING & SHIPPING UPDATE
over 4 years ago – Wed, Dec 11, 2019 at 11:46:14 PM

Dear backers of The Art of Privateer Press,

We received proofs this week from our printer, made a few quick adjustments, and then approved them to print.

The book is currently scheduled to print on the 16th and then ship from the printer to Privateer HQ on the 26th. With the holidays, it is unlikely the shipment will reach us before the very end of the month, but it will be close.

Reward shipping will commence as soon as the books arrive, with the first rewards expecting to land around mid-January. International orders will of course, take extra time as they will have to be freighted to their distribution destinations, but we'll get those out first so that no more time is lost. Regretfully, we missed our target for delivery by about six weeks. Our apologies for the underestimate. We hope you'll find the extra time was well spent on crafting a fine book.

The gold J.A.I.M.s cards will be tucked within the book for safe travels and so will arrive with your reward shipment.

Digital books will go out around the same time the physical books ship, including the Monsterpocalypse sketchbook.

Our next update will be to announce when the books arrive in our warehouse and we begin pack out. We're excited to get all of your rewards into your hands and hope very much that you will be pleased with the final product.

Happy holidays and all the best,

Privateer Press

FILES TO PRESS!
over 4 years ago – Mon, Dec 02, 2019 at 01:14:48 AM

Dear Backers of The Art of Privateer Press,

We are pleased to announce that the complete print files for the art book were uploaded to our printer last week. Our printer generally turns jobs around for us in about four weeks, and they are in the U.S., so shipping to our warehouse  won't take much time. Once we receive and approve proofs, we should have a more accurate idea of when the books will reach us and when we'll be shipping them out, and we'll send a new update out at that time. It won't be much longer now!

All the best,

Privateer Press

Project Update
over 4 years ago – Thu, Oct 17, 2019 at 03:40:29 AM

Greetings Art of Privateer Press Backers,

We're in the home stretch before sending this book off to press in the next few weeks and wanted to let you know what remains to be done.

We've just completed the arduous task of determining what artwork would not make it into the book. The hardest part of this project has been making the tough decisions about what to keep in and cutting pages out of it that took us over our projected page count. In the end, we still couldn't do it and the final book has been re-scoped to be 176 pages, with 168 of those pages full of art, so it's even a little bigger than we originally anticipated!

(Images not final — subject to change.)

In the meantime, we've also met with the printer and have increased the weight of the paper stock to be a bit thicker and more appropriate for an art book and we think you'll be pleased with the results.

With the artwork placed, we now must go through the pages and insert the titles and artist credits. Final text for the introduction of each section is in final editing and the cover is being designed. Last, we'll flow all of your backer credits into our appreciation section, and then this lovely tome will be off to press. We'll make an announcement the day it uploads to the printer so we can start counting down the days until we receive it back in our warehouse and ship it out to you. We're printing domestically, so there won't be any long shipping delays or customs inspections, either!

Until the next update...

Thank you!
